You just wasted 4K on a inferior product :P No point discussing this here, I travel a lot for study and work and therefore need a laptop instead of desktop. a GTX 1080 Laptop is actually slower compared to the desktop.
#Devil may cry 5 pc too large Pc
Laptop GPUs these days are identical, if not better, than their desktop counterpart.Īnd for half that price you can build a PC with better specs. So that's far from an accurate statement. Originally posted by Kaldaien:My laptop's GTX 1080 runs about 200 MHz faster than my desktop GTX 1080 because MSI binned the out of the card since it was a $4,000 laptop. I only have a mini 600w psu and to keep my m-itx steam box going strong I try not to overload the gpu with unnecessary work.Īfter capping the fps to 60 it never really gets close to 100% usage, runs buttery smooth no more stutters/crashes, my temps are significantly lower not just on the gpu and my PC doesn't sound like a jet engine when I'm trying to slay some demons. Yes I know GPU's can handle 100% usage while playing, but that's if you have a perfect setup with great cooling airflow and a giant psu.

Also I noticed my power to the gpu was capping out often and the usage was at a constant 100%. Turning on some overlays showed my fps was all over the place. Certain cut scenes would cause a crash within 30 seconds of it playing every time no matter when I tried to watch them. Would play perfectly for 30ish+ mins, but then stuttering and eventually crash. It would take some time for the symptoms to occur. When I first tried to play this game there was some issues for me with a 1080ti and eventually it would crash to desktop with no error or anything just complete close. There are exceptions like BIOS updates, etc.) Being on a laptop may make a difference, but I think this is basic guideline if you have issues running demanding games. It only triggers if your gpu is working way too hard or your psu isn't able to handle the load (Probably. To be clear, the power limit has a value of either 0 or 1.

If your gpu is at 100% usage and your hitting the power limit often then your most likely taxing your gpu too hard. Check the graph where your gpu usage is and then check the power limit and voltage limit and see where it's at.

At least like 10 mins so you can get a solid look at the graphs. So before we start just capping the fps and seeing if it works is a lot faster then going thru all this other stuff.Ī way to see if my solution will even help is to use msi afterburner and run the game for a while. If your certain you're running stable try capping the fps to 60 and start with mid/low settings and slowly raise them as you want. If you're overclocked at all cpu/ram/gpu then try playing with it at stock and then turning the overclock on one at a time first cpu, then ram, then gpu (for me this order works best). Basically check to see your not wasting resources you aren't aware of. Make sure you don't have viruses or malware.
